Transportation

From the Airport

Taxi to downtown
From the airport, taxi rides to downtown have a 40$ fixed price and take 30-40 minutes.

REDUCED MOBILITY: A certain number of adapted taxis are available at Montréal Trudeau Airport. Ask the dispatcher.

PAYMENT METHODS: Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit cards are accepted. Some drivers accept U.S. currency but provincial regulations require customers to pay in Canadian currency.

Airport bus to downtown
Aptly numbered "747", the bus takes you from the airport to the to the congress doorsteps, the Gare d'autocars de Montréal terminal (Berri-UQAM métro station) in about an hour.

The bus ticket costs 10$ (free wifi on most 747 buses) and serves as a 24 consecutive hours ticket for the whole Montréal bus and métro system.

The fare can be bought from an automated ticket dispenser or with exact change on the bus.

NOTE: Acquiring a daily, weekly or unlimited weekend pass for both the metro and the buses will also cover your bus trip from and back to the airport!

Downtown Montréal

The city's highly developed public transit system (voted best in North America) as well as its public bicycle sharing system, the BIXI system (an abbreviation of 'bicyclette' and 'taxi') make it a very manageable city for temporary visits. The Congress venue is siting over the main subway interchange Berri-UQAM) making it easy to go all over town for a quick shopping or eating trip (the public transit system is fully indexed in google maps). We hope people will focus on the meeting, but many quick diversions are within easy reach. A quick metro (subway), bus, or bicycle ride can take you to the Museum of Fine Arts, the Contemporary Arts Museum, or maybe a quick stroll through Mount Royal Park, designed by F. Olmsted of Central Park fame, or in Montréal Botanical Gardens (one of the largest and most diverse plant collections in the world). And if public transit is not enough, you can always hail one of the many taxis in town to get back from one of the many (many) restaurants and bars all over the city. More importantly, you can eat very well at all price ranges in Montréal. If you wish to stay longer, you can rent a car and you're within easy reach (60-90 minutes drive) of the Laurentians or the Eastern Townships, where green hills and mountains are peppered with lakes of all sizes. Camping, Canoeing, windsurfing, hiking, fishing, or just drinking beer(s) looking at sunsets are common summer activities.

Métro
To access the Conference venue (Berri-UQAM métro station) and for traveling downtown Montréal, the métro is an excellent option. Monday to Friday, it is open from 5:30 am to 12:30 am, and up until 1:00AM on Saturday (after the last metro, you can use the night bus system).

Get a weekly transit pass for unlimited use of the Métro and bus system. Get more information on the Montréal Métro.

NOTE: Acquiring a daily, weekly or unlimited weekend pass for both the metro and the buses will also cover your bus trip from and back to the airport!

Bus
The bus network of the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) offers several circuits. Check schedules of buses and bus lines serving the Berri-UQAM métro station (close to the Conference venue).

Bicycle
Montréal has 350 kilometres of bike paths criss-crossing its territory. Several bike racks are located near the entrance of the Conference venue.

BIXI is Montréal's public bike system offering a bike-sharing service, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This service, at minimal cost, allows citizens and tourists to get a bike at one station, travel to their destination, and return the bike to a nearby station in the network. To easily find BIXI stations and availability, you can download the app for your smartphone and/or tablet.

You can also rent a bike for the duration of your stay in Montréal. Several places such as Montréal on Wheels offer rental bicycles.

Commuter trains
Five commuter trains cover the Montréal metropolitan region. To find all the information you need about the route you want to take visit the Agence métropolitaine de transport website.
