WWW 2016 volunteers ensure the smooth progression of the conference by managing the registration desk, monitoring conference rooms and assisting attendees and speakers.
We encourage submissions from individuals from all over the world who are interested in the World Wide Web and want to contribute to the WWW conference.
Preference will be given to students in related domains (Computer Science, Programming, IT) and individuals with previous volunteering experience.
Fluency in English is mandatory, additional languages are welcome.
WWW 2016 will offer a training day for volunteers on Sunday, April 10th and provide accepted volunteers with an invitation letter for visa procedures (if necessary).

Who are Volunteers?
Volunteers are typically people with an involvement in the World Wide Web, who are interested in experiencing the conference but otherwise, could not afford to attend. We are looking for people from around the world to come join us and help support the conference in many capacities. The volunteer group consists of past and new international volunteers as well as a group of local volunteers from Montreal.
What can I expect to do at the conference?
- Prepare registration packages
- Manage the registration desk
- Monitor the conference rooms and help set up audio-visual equipment
- Support social events (gala dinner, opening cocktail)
- Act as “floaters” - walk around the conference venue and answer participants’ questions and guide them to their rooms.
What qualifications do I need?
You don't have to be an expert! You must have a good attitude and be enthusiastic about helping others... and of course an interest in the web.
Volunteers who have diverse language skills (especially English and French, but also other global languages to help our international guests!) are very useful.
When do I have to be available?
You have to be available starting on Sunday, April 10th until Friday, April 15th 2016. Start times depend on the day - volunteers may start on some days as early as 7 am and end as late as 9 pm on other days.
We do our best to make sure that you get the rest you need, but be prepared for an intense week!
What are the different categories of volunteers?
This year, the volunteer categories are:
- Local volunteers - from Montreal, who are familiar with the city and can give advice and directions to our guests
- NY volunteers - from New York state, our partner in this conference.
- International volunteers - from the rest of the world.
What do I get ?
- International and New York volunteers receive a Passport Registration which allows access to all days of the conference and lodging (2 volunteers per hotel room) for the week. You will be required to work 40 hours in exchange.
- Local volunteers receive a Passport Registration which allows access to all days of the conference. Local volunteers will be required to work 20 hours.There will be a flexible roster system that will allow you to schedule your work commitments between attending the parts of the conference that interest you. Above all, you will meet other volunteers from all over the world and make friends for life.

When will I know if I’ve been accepted?
Registration will be open until January 31st 2016. We will process applications as quickly as possible and get back to you in the week of February 8th, 2016.
There are usually more applicants than positions so we cannot guarantee that you will be accepted.
