Security experts take to the stage at WWW2006

Speakers from Oracle, VeriSign and Cisco are among the experts who will take to the stage in Edinburgh at the 15th annual World Wide Web Conference on 25th May.

The third day of the conference, Thursday 25th May, is entitled 'Ensuring the Web is Secure' and tackles the impact of the Web on security, crime and privacy. Delegates will hear speeches on the latest ways of managing the dangers to and defences of the World Wide Web

The themes of the event will cover the latest Internet threats to e-business and corporate security, today's sophisticated cyber criminal and the new wave of security measures the IT industry must put in place.

Oracle's Chief Security Officer, Mary Ann Davidson, will deliver the keynote address. She has responsibility for security evaluations, assessments and incident handling and will focus on the internal measures Oracle uses to ensure they are secure.

Also speaking are Phillip Hallam-Baker, principal scientist at VeriSign, and Paul King, senior security advisor, Cisco Systems.

The conference's refereed paper tracks for the day see security, privacy and sound guiding ethics as an essential part of a successful World Wide Web. They will highlight practical tools and techniques, guide business adoption of security technology and inform related government legislation.

1.World Wide Web 2006 is the annual conference of the International World Wide Web Conference Committee (IW3C2) and is organised by the University of Southampton's School of Electronics and Computer Science in conjunction with the British Computer Society. The four-day event, to be held in the UK for the first time, will take place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre between 23 and 26 May 2006. It is expected to attract up to 1500 delegates and will bring together key players from the international community.
