Season’s greetings
The Web Conference Organization Committee wishes you great winter holidays. Season’s greetings! The team will be out of the office from December 20th to January 3rd. We will answer your emails at soon as possible.
The ACM Web Conference 2022 will be Online
The Organization Committee received numerous requests about the conference format for 2022 hoping for everybody to gather in Lyon. However, given the ongoing uncertainty of the sanitary situation in most parts of the world, we decided that it would be safer to maintain a full online edition for 2022. Consequently, The Web Conference 2022 edition will be hosted online.
We launched a new hashtag #OnlineButNotOfflife. TheWebConf always has been more than the biggest conference about the Web! It’s a living community. Despite an online edition, we expect to not only share information about the conference program but also about the city of Lyon.

The Web Conference becomes an ACM conference
August 14th, 1994 was the birth date of the International World Wide Web Conference Committee (also known as IW3C2). Since its creation, IW3C2 has been responsible for The Web Conference series. The whole committee largely contributed to the nowadays reputation of TheWebConf bringing together researchers, developers, users and commercial ventures and all who are passionate about the Web and what it has to offer.
Thank you to Dame Wendy Hall and to all current and past IW3C2 members for their ongoing support of The Web Conference series..
2022 will mark a new change in The Web Conference history. IW3C2 is handing over the conference series to the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the world’s largest computing society, and its Special Interest Group on Hypertext and the Web (SIGWEB).
The Local Organization Committee Lyon 2022 is proud to accompany this change from The Web Conference to The ACM Web Conference. The goal stays the same: making it a premier forum for discussion and debate about the evolution of the Web, the standardization of its associated technologies, and the impact of those technologies on society and culture.
Let’s make The Web Better, Faster, Stronger for the 2022 edition of The Web Conference!
