Patrick Sheehan

Patrick joined 3i in 1985 and has substantial venture capital experience in the UK, Europe and the USA; he was founder of 3i's Silicon Valley operation, running it for four years from its inception. Patrick's main focus is now on the software sector, where he Chairs 3i's activities. He is also involved in semiconductors and advanced technologies.

Patrick has made numerous venture capital investments including Oxford Asymmetry, Capita, RM and The Maiden Group. He currently sits on the board for OmPrompt and Visual Media. Patrick is a member of the EVCA High Tech Committee and was on the BVCA Emerging Growth Companies Committee from its inception until he moved to the USA in 1999.

Prior to joining 3i, Patrick was a research engineer at GEC Hirst, designing short fibre optic networks, and a consultant for Marconi Space Systems working on satellite antenna design. He has a PhD in electronic engineering from University College, London.
