One of the world's foremost terrorism experts is to be a leading speaker at the WWW2006 conference in Edinburgh next May. Evan F Kohlmann, the Washington-based terror expert, will be speaking on the final day of the conference, Society and the Web, (26th May 2006) with a lecture on terrorism and the Internet.

Kohlmann regularly briefs the American government on transnational terrorist threats and has served as an expert witness on the 9/11 federal terrorism trials. He has over seven years experience tracking Al-Qaida and other global terrorist threats and monitors terror literature on the Internet through his website. Kohlmann's latest book, Al-Qaida's Jihad in Europe: The Afghan-Bosnian Network, has been hailed as "a must-read to understand the contemporary wave of terrorism".

Kohlmann has a degree in international politics and a certificate in Islamic studies from Georgetown University, and a joint doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

WWW2006's Society and the Web is a themed day focusing on the impact of the Web on the world at large. Speakers will be tackling issues such as terrorism, democracy, health, child protection and fraud.
