Carole Goble

Carole Goble is a professor in the department of computer science at the University of Manchester. The focus of her research interest is the accessibility of information, particularly the use of terminological and ontological services for the representation and classification of metadata in a number of application domains.

This research is always within the setting of an application and a real user base, leading to a number of interdisciplinary projects chiefly in bioinformatics, digital libraries (encompassing multimedia, hypermedia and issues concerning semantic metadata) and medical informatics. Carole is a key adviser to various governmental departments.
