Scotland has over 540 golf courses to choose from including world famous championship
golf courses such as The Old Course St Andrews, Royal Troon, Carnoustie, Muirfield,
Turnberry and Gleneagles. Visitors to the South East of Scotland will quickly realise
that they are in the heart of golfing country.
There are many famous and historical courses in this region and the stretch of
fabulous links golf courses to the east of Edinburgh attracts hoards of seaside loving
golfers.
If you wish to take advantage of the fantastic golf courses available in the area, we

to suit you, how to get there and how to book.

- St Andrews Links

St Andrews Links is the Home of Golf, where the game evolved and where the spirit and
traditions of golf have been safeguarded for over six centuries.
A place of global importance, the Links is managed by St Andrews Links Trust. You can
use their website to plan your golf trip, book tee-times, browse the online shop and
discover more about the home of Golf.
The six courses at the Links are: Old Course, New Course, Jubilee Course, Eden Course,
Strathtyrum Course and Balgrove Course. They are open to all, as is the golf practice
centre and the two clubhouses.
The most popular and famous of the courses The Old Course has special conditions for
bookings. A handicap of 24 for men and 36 for women is requested and a valid certificate
or card is required as proof. Around 50% of all starting times over the year are put into
the daily ballot (lottery) which is drawn every day for next day's play except Sunday -
the Saturday draw is for Monday play. Success is not always guaranteed and chances vary
according to the time of the year, how busy the course is and the weather. However, it is
possible to book all 5 of the other courses in advance for 2006.

- Gleneagles Hotel

Gleneagles Hotel is an hour's drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh and is located in the
heart of the Scottish Glen. It has 3 courses to choose from: PGA Centenary Course, King's
Course and the Queen's Course, all of which are open to the public.
All 3 courses are available for booking in advance for 2006. To make an advance

Only) or toll free: 1 866-881-95205 (USA Only). Alternatively you can visit the Gleneagles website for
further information and make an online reservation. Prices start at £115 per person on
any of the 3 golf courses. All that is required at the time of booking is full payment
with a valid credit card/debit card.
- Carnoustie Golf Links

Carnoustie Golf Links, home to the Open Championships, are located in the Scottish
heartlands 1.5 hours drive north from Edinburgh along the East Coast. Refer to the

- Turnberry

Turnberry is considered to be the finest golfing destination of all for thousands of
players the world over. It is situated on the South West Coast of Scotland. Turnberry is
approximately 2.25 hours drive from Edinburgh. For further information on the location,

Courses have to booked at least 2 weeks in advance; however delegates should note it
is often very busy during the spring and summer season so early booking is advised. Green
fees for 2006 are £150 during the week for the Ailsa Course and £195 at the weekend. The
Kintyre course is £120 a day, seven days a week.
- Royal Troon

Royal Troon is located on the West Coast of Scotland, approximately 35 miles south of
Glasgow and 1.5 hours from Edinburgh. It has 3 courses: Old Course, Portland Course and
the Par 3 Course. The Club operates various conditions on play including a handicap of 20
for men and 30 for ladies. Visitor Tee Times are also restricted on both courses to a set
