Biography
Egbert-Jan Sol, MS, PhD
Vice President Technology
Ericsson Telecommunicatie BVEgbert-Jan Sol received a PhD degree in Technical Sciences from Eindhoven University of Technology in 1983.
Before joining Ericsson he was a software manager at Philips Electronics and a consultant at Origin for several large industrial firms in the area of IT management, and the usage and marketing of IP networking and the Internet in particular.
As Vice President Technology, Dr. Ir Sol is responsible for technology in the research and development, product management, and strategic business development areas at Ericsson. In addition to being a member of the Ericsson Technology Board, he is also a member of the board of management of Telematica Instituut, Eindhoven Embedded Systems Institute, and SURF.
For the last 7 years Dr. Ir Sol has been a part-time professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology in Technology Management. Research topics at the university include architectures and the management of product development. In 1996, he was the winner of the academy award of the university in the category "teacher" for his experiments with lectures on the Internet.
