WWW2008 Newsletter -- November 2007 (Fourth Issue)

PAPER AND TUTORIAL SUBMISSIONS

The deadline (November 1, 2007) for the referred paper submissions and tutorial submissions to WWW2008 has passed. We received 880 papers - a new record compared to last year's record of 755 papers. Accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings published by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). We have also received 29 tutorial proposals.

DEVELOPERS TRACK

The Developers Track seeks submissions that focus on the WWW development community and present new code and technology. Submissions are due on January 18, 2008. See more details from the Developers Track CFP page. Inquiries can be sent to

POSTERS TRACK

The Posters Track seeks submissions that provide an interaction opportunity for researchers and practitioners to present and demonstrate their new and innovative work-in-progress reports and to obtain feedback from their peers in an informal setting. PANELS TRACK

The Panels Track seeks submissions that focus on emerging technologies, controversial issues, or unsolved problems in the World Wide Web community to stimulate lively, thoughtful, and thought-provoking debates. WORKSHOPS

WWW2008 has received 30 workshop proposals. The Workshops program committee has decided to accept 9 proposals plus one invited proposal. The list of accepted workshop proposals is available at http:/wiki.cse.cuhk.edu.hk/WWW2008/workshops.

BICC AND BEIJING CONTINENTAL GRAND HOTEL

Our conference venue, Beijing International Convention Center (BICC), is an all-in-one convention service provider that specializes in hosting high-profile national and international events. BICC includes 41 meeting rooms and conference halls and 5,000 square meters of exhibition space. BICC is also attached to a four-star hotel, the Beijing Continental Grand Hotel (BCGH), which is a white building of 13 floors with 527 rooms that meet international standards and is equipped with advanced facilities and technologies. In the restaurants, you can experience typical Chinese cuisines of Sichuan, Guangdong, Shandong, Jiangsu and Royal style. Genuine western food is also available there.

Both BICC and BCGH are located along the Fourth Ring Road, within walking distance of the development zone for the 2008 Olympics Games, popular shopping centers, entertainments hotspots, restaurants and shopping facilities. They are only a 30-minute drive from the Beijing Capital International Airport and some key Beijing historical sites.
