What is required to take part in video-conferencing on the mbone? Many people think they only need a port of the tools to their platform. However, to have the tools ported to your platform, the platform must first be IP multicast capable. Then, even if your platform is IP multicast capable, and you have a copy of the MBONE tools, its not going to help you much if you can’t receive (or send) packets. Routers must be configured to forward multicast packets, and where this is impossible tunnels must be set up.
