Title: 7 divides: How the Web changed and is changing enterprise software
Abstract:
From enabling near-universal access to business processes, to redefining search and information retrieval, to deployment and delivery of software, the World Wide Web had profoundly changed the nature of enterprise software. And we are far from being done. In this talk we examine 7 key issues, or divides, that enterprise software is faced with, the nature of these divides, and how emerging web technologies will help address these.
Biographical Information:
Dr. Vishal Sikka is Senior Vice President and Chief Software Architect for SAP AG with responsibility for roadmap and architecture governance for all SAP's products and technology. In addition, he is the CTO of SAP's products and technology group with responsibility for technology direction, innovation and partnerships in strategic product and technology areas. Prior to joining SAP, Dr. Sikka served as area vice president of platform technologies at Peregrine Systems (Remedy) responsible for application development and integration products. Vishal joined Peregrine following the acquisition of Bodha, Inc., where he served as founder and CEO. Bodha developed technology for non-invasive, service-based integration of web-based applications and information. Vishal holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University and his experience includes work in modeling, application development, distributed data integration/management, and artificial intelligence at Stanford, Xerox's Palo Alto lab and two startups.
