Short Abstract:
The presentation will focus on the graphical
aspects of the extensive atlas information system "Tirol Atlas". Topics covered
include map gui aspects and map navigation, database-driven chart generation and load on
demand systems for the display of larger spatial datasets.
Short Bio:
André Winter holds a master degree in
Geography/Cartography from Vienna University. After university he managed the division
"New Media and Internet Content Management" at Freytag-Berndt, Vienna, Austria.
Currently André works at a internet developer and cartographer on the Tyrol Atlas at
Innsbruck University, Austria. André was also a member of the SVG.Open 2002 organizing
committee in Zurich. Klaus Förster holds a degree in Geography from Innsbruck University
and works in the same Internet Atlas team. The Tyrol Atlas project uses modern and open
W3C standards and open source technologies, such as Perl and PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
