3 - Maintenance of Webs using WebLinker

3.1 - Generation of Mapping Tables

The initial step after creation of the infostructure is to extract the table of internal mappings. Below is a section of the internal mappings table for the WebLinker system documentation infostructure.

<BASE href="http://www.cern.ch/WebLinker/Welcome.html" >

# NOTE: Above line _must_ be first line of the file.

# Internal reference mappings table.

# Note: This is automatically generated for this Infostructure by WebLinker.

Abstract 	Abstract_1.html
Authors	Abstract_2.html
PART	Welcome.html#PARTS
ROBOT	Welcome.html#ROBOT
SERVER	Welcome.html#SERVER
DAEMON	Welcome.html#DAEMON
HEADING1	WebLinker_2.html#HEADING1
Also, we generate a table of external references. This contains all the logical names of external documents that have been referenced by the infostructure. At this stage, the maintainer must complete the logical to physical name mappings. For example, if we have the element:

<A URN="FARMING#Pigs">Pig Farming in Eastern Asia</A>
Then we must have a mapping rule in this file

FARMING	http://www.agri.com/lrn/farming
giving the location of the relevant infostructure. We need a mapping rule for each infostructure we reference.
