3.1 - Generation of Mapping Tables

The initial step after creation of the infostructure is to extract the table of internal mappings. Below is a section of the internal mappings table for the WebLinker system documentation infostructure.

Also, we generate a table of external references. This contains all the logical names of external documents that have been referenced by the infostructure. At this stage, the maintainer must complete the logical to physical name mappings. For example, if we have the element:

Then we must have a mapping rule in this file

giving the location of the relevant infostructure. We need a mapping rule for each infostructure we reference.
