Introduction

The World Wide Web (WWW) has many uses at a university. Brigham Young University (BYU) and Utah Valley State College (UVSC) have been exploring ways to use the Web to facilitate learning. Learning requires the distribution of information, and we have identified several areas in which the Web is an effective vehicle for delivering information to students. The Instructional Science Department at BYU has developed a central repository for information on the Web, providing essential departmental communication to students. A paperless class which uses the Web is being taught by the the Computer Science Department at BYU. And, distribution of student materials and services is being handled via the Web by the Computer Science and Information Systems Department and the Distance Learning Center at UVSC.
