WWW10 Calls for Participation:

Culture Track

The Culture Track aims to provide an interesting and informative experience at WWW10 for those whose interests are particularly concerned with the use of the WWW to support and extend cultural activities. Participation will include presentation but also active participation in the Culture Track Program, integrated into the main WWW10 Program. * Please note that we will continue to welcome proposals for presentations and forums for the Culture Track until January 31, 2001. In addition, the Culture Track Program Committee will invite distinguished members of the research and cultural community to make or respond to presentations, seminar syle. Proposals can be submitted according to two processes: WWW10 Refereed proposals are managed by the main WWW10 Processes. These proposals must follow the main WWW10 time schedule. Successful proposals will be published in the main WWW10 Conference proceedings. The format for these proposals is specified by those responsible for the WWW10 refereed papers, panels and poster tracks (see main homepage of WWW10). Culture Track Refereed proposals can be made directly to the Culture Track Program Committee will be refereed by that committee. Proposals to the Culture Track PC are due by January 31, 2001. Proposals should follow the format and guidelines (below). Note that all presentations are expected to contribute to the major themes of the Culture Track (see below).

The call for WWW10 Refereed Papers closed on November 13, 2000. Author notification will be on January 19, 2001, and final papers are due:	- February 19, 2001

Call for proposals for presentations and forums for the Culture Track, to be submitted directly to the Culture Track, are due: (Please follow guidelines below.)	- January 31, 2001
Acceptance of proposals and invitations to present at in the Culture Track, will be notified to proposers:	- February 15, 2001
Culture Track topics include but are not limited to the following::
Digital arts, installations and exhibitions Digitising collections - tools and techniques Describing resources and collections Indigenous cultures online Models for creative and scholarly self-publishing Multi-culturalism and multi-linguality Virtual institutions including economic models Cultural communities including technical and minority Government policies and standards
Proposals should address important, topical issues in the cultural sector and promote active participation in lively debate among respondents and participants. Of particular interest will be presentations that contribute to increasing participation in and the value of the online world for those in the Asia-Pacific Region. Submissions: See the special guidelines for WWW10 Refereed papers, panels and posters. Guidelines for proposals to be made directly to the Culture Track should follow the guidelines below. Submissions should be sent to the Culture Track Chair at culture@www10.org before January 31, 2001. Guidelines for Culture Track Submissions: Proposals should be submitted electronically using the form provided. Descriptions of presentations should describe the topic to be presented, its relevance to the Culture Track, and the form of presentation (1000 words).
