WWW 7 Volunteers
                           Newsletter # 2 16 /12 /97
Welcome to Newsletter #2. The Volunteer's registration form is now online and anyone interested in working for WWW 7 should
fill it out and submit as soon as possible. We will be confirming
the first batch of offers by the end of January.

Volunteers will be involved in helping run Networking and Audiovisual so we are looking for people with specific skills in these areas. The registration form should give everyone the opportunity to inform us of what you have to offer, don't hesitate to let us know any experiance you have had in either area.

The conference program is almost finalised and by early next month we will have an exact figure of how many volunteers will be required and what they will be doing. There will be significantly less places on offer this time - about half as many as WWW 6 so make sure you get your application to us quickly.

Some people have already contacted us offering to work in exchange for accomodation only. We will be able to offer some positions on this basis as there will be peak times where we need more people, set up, pull down and Internet Cafe night. There is a section in the registration where you are asked your requirements. We will be assigning a number of hours we will require you to work in exchange for registration and accomodation, so those that check both can expect to be assigned more work hours than those that check only one. Breakfast and Local Transport will be included with Accomodation. Lunch, Morning and Afternoon Tea are included with Registration. Locals who only require Registration will be offered a Local Transport subsidy to get them to BCEC. Accomodation only offers will require you to be available for work at specific times. Everyone will be required to work the set up.

Those requiring Accom and Registration will be assigned a schedule for the whole week, based on a required number of hours. Set up and Pull down will consume a large amount of your required hours so you will have more spare time during the conference itself to attend any sessions of interest. You will find yourself working for either Networking or AV based on a set number of hours per day. Once you have your roster you will be able to exchange slots with other volunteers if there is a session you particuarly want to go to. We will establish a formal procedure for swapping so we all now what each other is doing. Once you have been accepted you will be sent a form that will give you an opportunity to advise us of times you don't want to be available for work. So check the conference program as it emerges and let us know in advance which sessions you want to attend. There will be some positions available in Workshops provided you are prepared to be "On Duty" for the duration.

That should just about be it for now, the next newsletter will be online the last week of January. Christmas is upon us so not much will be happening for the next couple of weeks. Newsletter #3 will be getting down to finer details of numbers, schedules etc. If you need to contact us use the email link on the bottom of the registration form. So get to work on sending your registration in and have a safe and Happy Christmas.

John Miller.
