LAW SIG - "Emerging Issues in Cyberlaw" 

Chair: Associate Professor Brian Fitzgerald, Head of School of Law, Southern Cross University, NSW. 

This SIG will examine key legal issues facing the Internet and will be 
delivered through a mixture of papers and open discussion sessions, 
concluding with a panel session. 

Topics to be considered:  

• "Legal Issues Relating to the Allocation of Domain Names" - Phillip Hourigan, Deacon Graham and James Solicitors 

• "Intellectual Property: Copyright and Patenting of Software" - John Swinson, Malleson Stephen Jacques Solicitors 

• "Electronic Contracts and Digital Signatures" - Adrian McCullagh, Gadens Solicitors 

• "Internet Service Provider Liability" - Associate Professor Brian Fitzgerald, Southern Cross University 

• "Equal Rights for Australian Software Developers - The Importance of  Reverse Engineering (including Decompilation) - Peter Connor, Director 

• Asian /Australasian Legal Services, Sun Microsystems Australia Pty Ltd 

• Panel Session in which the above speakers will be joined by Sarah Lacey, Kenny and Co Solicitors (who has special interest in Trademarks and Computer Software) to discuss current issues in Cyberlaw.
