On behalf of the Queensland Government, the Honourable David Watson, Minister for Public Works and Housing welcomed delegates to Queensland.

During his speech, the Minister outlined the role of "Information Queensland" and plans for the connection of all Queensland schools to the Internet by the end of this year. He also invited delegates to visit the Blackall Internet Cafe - beyond the Black Stump - if they were planning any travels in the Queensland outback after the conference.
