Please be concise and complete all of the following requests for information:

Name: Postal Mailing Address: Affiliation (university/organization/company): Email: Phone Number: Fax Number: Conference Experience, if any: Technical background/experience (hardware, software, networking, audio-visual, M-BONE, etc.): What computing platform(s) is most familiar to you? Other interests, skills, or resources that would make you a valuable volunteer (example: hobbies, language skills, medical training, educational background, etc.): Why do you want to participate? Do you have any physical limitations which would affect the types of duties you are assigned? It is critical that you be able to attend and work all the days that volunteers are needed (May 4 - 10). Volunteer duties, Assignments and Special Arrangements

Volunteers will receive:
  1. Room accommodations (2-4 per room depending upon availability).
  2. Waiver of registration fees. During free time when they are not working, volunteers will be able to attend keynote speeches, paper sessions, panel sessions, Birds-of-a Feather (BOF) sessions, poster sessions, and the vendor exhibition.
  3. Due to space limitations, volunteers will not be able to attend workshops and tutorials, unless they have paid registration fees to attend them, or are scheduled to work at them as room monitors or technicians.
  4. Breakfast and lunch on the days worked, and dinner at the conference banquet.
  5. Miscellaneous perks given to workers--each of the give away items included for participants (i.e. t-shirts, proceedings, pins, etc.)
Volunteers will not receive travel assistance or travel reimbursement to and from the conference site.

We will try to create a working schedule which will allow volunteers free time to attend sessions they are particularly interested in, or to schedule the volunteer to work at that particular session. In order for this to happen volunteers must review the conference agenda as soon as it becomes available, and send their schedule requests to the Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteers will be expected to work six hours minimally between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., but will probably be scheduled for more. Every effort will be made to allow volunteers time to attend a session or two daily.

List of possible volunteer duties:

  1. Equipment transportation, set-up and break-down (on-site),
  2. Networking and/or audio-visual assistance,
  3. Room monitor, room technician,
  4. Session evaluation distribution, collection, and tabulation,
  5. Conference souvenir sales,
  6. Clerical office support,
  7. Misc. as needed (i.e., answer phones, run errands, pick up supplies, deliver messages, etc.).
Please review the above information and email your application to: www5vol@ncsa.uiuc.edu

Deadline for application submission is Sunday, March 10, 1996. Volunteer positions are limited, please apply early!
