Now lets look at the problems associated with low bandwidth connections - the “thin pipe” problem. To illustrate the difficulty, imagine we are transmitting audio and bitmaps. Suppose there is some audio traffic being sent, and during this a bitmap is also sent. On a LAN, it would make sense to send the bitmap in one large burst.
