This table shows how the Internet has evolved over the last few years. What was once the domain of relatively few researchers has become the domain of the masses, who are interested in commercial and entertainment applications. Where Lan-connected Unix users were once the dominant group on the Internet, now more than half the connections are from PC’s, and/or via modem. Internet traffic has skyrocketed as the size of the community has increased.

Right now the MBONE looks like BEFORE side of the table. Will the MBONE evolve in the same way the Internet has? Lets look at what it would take for that to happen.
