I'M-EUROPE was conceived as an instrument to promote the development of the European electronic information Market and, hence make a significant contribution to the electronic information superhighway. In this respect it follows the White Paper's suggestion that new services should be conceived so as to promote economic growth and stimulate the creation of jobs.

The services offered by I'M-EUROPE are dynamic in nature. The contents and structure of the different parts will change to reflect the developments in the European information services market and the initiatives launched by DGXIII in response to those changes. Naturally, the technology underlying I'M-EUROPE will be developed to accommodate the changes affecting the Internet and releases of new WWW client and server software.

I'M-EUROPE offers a wide range of documents and services. These include:

Information about the European Union offering the full texts of the Maastricht treaty, the Bangemann report, the White paper and the Commission's action plan on the information society.
European Community programmes related to the information market including the latest calls for proposals.
IMPACT covering the IMPACT 1995 work programme, the latest IMPACT news, IMPACT contact points, descriptions of IMPACT funded multimedia projects, the IMO and (in the near future) the LAB reports.
ECHO The ECHO home page gives the user access to background information on ECHO and its services as well as facilities for accessing these services. Detailed information is available on each of the ECHO databases.. Users may access ECHO via a telnet session. Access is also available, via a gateway, to EURODICAUTOM, the multilingual online dictionary of the EC translation services.
Directorate General XIII contains a brief description of the tasks and functions of DG XIII. Users can also access contact information for the various directorates of DGXIII. A contact person is identified for each directorate along with his/her telephone number.
I'M-EUROPE MAILBOX The I'M-EUROPE mailbox has been developed in order to gather as much feedback as possible from the user communities. All queries and comments are welcome and will be taken into consideration as changes and enhancements are implemented. The I'M-EUROPE team reply to all requests for information and advice on a daily basis.
I'M INDEX The I'M index service is an ICE based search and retrieval engine used to search the contents of I'M-EUROPE for particular themes and subject. Users can either enter searches using Boolean operators or may enter individual search terms. The system displays the sections of I'M-EUROPE that match the search. The user then clicks on the name of the section that interests him/her in order to move to that service.
