There are two ways to participate in the Third International World-Wide Web
Conference remotely
(if you plan to do so, be certain to read the
notes for remote participants):
By attending one of the remote conference sites,
where live video will be projected,
and live two-way audio conferencing supported.
By installing the requisite MBONE software (sd, nv/vic, and vat) on
your own UNIX workstation, and joining the MBONE by contacting your local
Internet access provider to be added to the MBONE routing tables.
For further technical details about the MBONE:
Sun Microsystems (which provided the three SPARCstation 20 workstations
that served as the multicasting transmitters,
the requisite SunVideo cards, and the SPARCstation that served as the
MBONE router)
Rechenzentrum Universitaet Stuttgart (RUS) for supporting
MBone connectivity and Conference Multicasting.
Various gurus of the MBONE community, for creating the tools that
made this possible
(in particular,
Carsten Bormann,
Steve Casner,
Steve Deering,
Jutta Degener,
Ron Frederick,
Van Jacobson,
Jack Jansen,
Steven McCanne,
Henning Schulzrinne,
and Ron Zuckerman),
and Steve Casner for his patient periodic technical advice.
Don Brutzman and the organizers of the Symposium on Interactive 3D
Graphics (Monterey, CA) for coordinating their multicasting activities with us.
The organizers of the NLUUG Networking conference (Amsterdam, NL)
for coordinating their multicasting activities with us.
Speakers and presenters who took extra care in their preparations
to ensure the success of the multicast.
All Conference participants,
for helping to make this experimental technology fit in to the meeting smoothly
