Visit Lyon and its famous "Old City" Saint Jean district.
The splendour of the Renaissance is marvellously expressed in Old Lyon, including St Jean and its cathedral, St Paul and St Georges. The "traboules" (passageways) are most numerous here, weaving a network of secret passages between the streets, via vaulted corridors and interior courtyards leading out onto Renaissance galleries. You can explore all of Lyon's Italian charm, including along the river Saône which reflects the mediaeval and Renaissance facades lining the banks with their ochre and pink shades. Why not take a cruise along the Saône as far as IIe Barbe!
