Gilles Babinet

Gilles Babinet Gilles Babinet (44) is an entrepreneur.
Since April 2011, Gilles serves as the Chairman of the Conseil National du Numérique (National Digital Council) in France.
 
Gilles Babinet successfully created and managed various successful businesses as CEO. At the age of 24, he set up Absolut, a design and marketing firm that became a major consultancy group in France. Gilles then sold Absolut at the beginning of 2000 to Euro-RSCG, in order to fully dedicate himself to the creation of Musiwave. In 5 years, Musiwave became the leading mobile music provider to mobile Operators. Musiwave has been sold to Openwave –a public American company – for $139M in Jan 2006. Since then Musiwave has been resold to Microsoft in late 2007.

Since then, Gilles founded or funded several companies:

  • Eyeka, a web, mobile and IP-TV platform which allows brands to make call for content creation toward a community of 16 000 video authors. Eyeka received a serie A funding of $9 millions from Ventech Ventures and DN Capital.

  • MXP4 (formerly mxp4), a company developing a new interactive music format, which seed-raised $7M in June 2006 with Ventech and Sofinnova

  • CaptainDash a impressive management dashboard tool which let marketer gather in a one-place-shopping to gather all the data that matters in their business whether internal (ERP feeds…) or external (traffic, weather reports…). The company has recently won A biszpark One Award from Microsoft.
    On both Eyeka, CaptainDash and MXP4, Gilles serves as Chairman.

  • DIgicompanion, a company using film and music to organise retail promotion. The company received € 2M from Advent ventures in France.

Along with this, Gilles has invested and is acting as a non executive Director in :

  • Awdio SA, a company which streams the music coming from the 150 best nightclubs from all over the world. Awdio is a fast growing start-up with 20 employees and representing team in most of the large countries.

  • Sawnd.com, a music publishing company, which help the artists to get promoted not only via their recording, but mostly using the potential of synchronising their music, especially on new medias. Sawnd has signed some key French talents such as Da Cream Chantilly, Black Kent and Scratch Massive.

  • Sacaddict, a e-commerce company which develops a fashion accessory offering via a strong social shopping model.

  • Hypeed, a fashion addict community which gather 50,000 of the top fashion bloggers in the world.

Gilles is also a member at Institut Montaigne a French Think Tank founded by Axa’s Founder, Claude Bebear, as well as an active member of 100,000 entrepreneurs, a non-profit organisation which organises meeting between underprivileged students and entrepreneurs.
