Adopting an open-source search engine and result comparisons to Google Appliance
Track: Developers There has been a lot of development work in the open-source community towards a scalable web search engine in the past few years. One of the key projects is the Apache Nutch web search engine written in Java. Nutch builds on Apache Lucene, which is a text search engine also written in Java, now ported to C++ and other languages. In this presentation, we will share some of our experience in deploying Nutch to provide site search. We will also compare the pros and cons of adopting Nutch to provide search functionalities similar to that of Google Appliance. |
