The web has quickly grown to become a critical information resource,
with billions of pages made available by millions of different
individuals. However, the decentralized nature of web growth has led
to a heterogeneous information source with a perceived lack of
structure and organization. Methods for searching, querying, indexing,
and crawling the web are critical to the utility of the web and help
to organize information, provide effective retrieval methods, and
analyze web content and structure. Relevant topics include, but are
not restricted to:
- Information retrieval
- Intelligent agents
- Search engines
- Web crawling
- Metasearch
- Indexing
- Data mining
- Web structure
- Web measurement and analysis
- Recommender systems
