Computer Graphics in Germany focus at Darmstadt where three institutes specialize in this challenging field of computer technology[1]. These three institutes are: the Technical University of Darmstadt, Interactive Graphics Systems Group (THD - GRIS), the Computer Graphics Center (ZGDV) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics (IGD) (Fig.1). The institutes' activities cover all areas of Computer Graphics completely. The "Graphic Triad's" scope of work ranges from independent, basic research to product prototyping, and from educating future computer graphics specialists to advanced training for a wide range of professional groups. The three institutes are helping industry to overcome many of their difficulties by playing an active role in key standardsetting bodies.
