EIT used rapid prototyping techniques to facilitate storyboarding the overall user interface and WWW server structure. Our first fully navigable prototype was demonstrated at the NCMS annual convention within four weeks of contract award.
Many scripts were prototyped using the python programming language. These will ultimately be replaced with C or C++ for commercial delivery, but the use of a scripting language satisfied our need for an iterative design and development methodology and rapid response to customer feedback.
As a first implementation, the system was purposefully designed to meet customer specifications instead of generic, commercial functionality. However, its modular design anticipates more generalized, fully-featured future implementations.
