WWW Fall 94 -- General Information

The NCSA Software Development Group (SDG) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), together with the Open Software Foundation (OSF) Research Institute, the National Science Foundation, and the European Laboratory for Particle Physics (CERN), is sponsoring the Second International World Wide Web (WWW) Conference '94: Mosaic and the Web.

People from all backgrounds who are excited about Mosaic -- academics, government officials and business people -- will come together to discuss their Mosaic/WWW activities and tangible results. This conference is not about a piece of code; it is about a revolution as significant as that engendered by the printing press. Mosaic and the Web are introducing a major transformation in the way in which knowledge is being expressed and communicated around the world.

The four-day conference will begin on October 17 with tutorial sessions. The following two days of the conference will be mainly devoted to paper presentations. There will also be additional activities, including workshops, panel discussions, "birds of a feather" groups, demonstrations, and poster sessions. The last day of the conference, Thursday, October 20, will be restricted to programmers and will include developer sessions. A new Conference Agenda document contains important information for participants.

This conference will be held at the Ramada-Congress Hotel, 520 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, USA. The first International Conference on the WWW was held at CERN, Geneva, Switzerland, on May 25-27, 1994, and the next one is scheduled for Darmstadt, Germany, in April 1995.
